Board of Directors

Fern Kelley – Board Member – A dedicated community volunteer and retired business owner, Fern brings the voice of a community leader to Children’s Promise work.  Children’s Promise helps students learn effective communication skills that support being successful employees/employers.

 

Tina Novak – Board Member – Tina Novak has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from UW-Green Bay.  She earned her Masters of Education degree from Viterbo University.  Currently, she splits her time as a reading interventionist at the elementary level and as a stay at home mom.

Tom Novak  - Board Member – Tom Novak holds a Bachelor of Science degree from UW-Green Bay.  He is currently the president of NuRadiance Inc., a dental supply manufacturing, importing, and distribution company.  Tom lives in Green Bay with his wife and young daughters.

Roberta Scherrer – Board Member – Roberta holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in elementary education, with a master’s from Lesley University in curriculum and the arts. Roberta taught third grade during her 27 years in the Green Bay schools.  A long-time resident of Green Bay, Roberta is now retired.

Carol Van Scyoc – Board Member – Carol has a background as a financial adviser, and is currently retired.  She works in the community as a leader and advocate advancing change.

 

Ron Welch – Board Member –Ron is a former Superintendent of the Algoma School District.  He brings his experience as District Superintendent to the positive school climate discussion. His background includes  dedicated support for the social-emotional development of students.

 

Executive Director

Mary Harrison – Executive Director and Founder of Children’s Promise – Mary has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Growth and Development and a Masters in Social Work (MSW) degree, both from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.  She has taught presentations at statewide conferences including the Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials (WASBO) reaching school bus managers, owners and transportation directors, the Wisconsin School Bus Association (WSBA) comprised of school bus managers and drivers, the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators (AWSA) whose members are principals, associate principals, and school resource officers, as well as the Wisconsin Family Based Services Association (WFBSA), reaching social workers across the state.
